Why Dubai in 2020?

A global hub for trade and commerce at the crossroads of the world
With world-class infrastructure, a robust and transparent system of governance and a strong entrepreneurial environment, Dubai continues to develop as a trans-continental hub for trade and commerce, helping to shape and catalyse economic development across the world.

Dubai’s innovative and robust economic models and extensive global trade footprint will see Expo 2020 Dubai provide participants with a unique and continuous stream of opportunity in the country and beyond.

One of the world’s best-connected nations
The UAE connects one third of the world’s population in a four hour flight and two thirds within an eight hour flight. Dubai International Airport is currently listed as the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic, and once complete, Al Maktoum International will be the world’s largest airport, with capacity for 160 million passengers. By 2020, the UAE will also be the driving force behind a new regional railway system and continue to serve as a significant port of call for international shipping and logistics.

Cosmopolitan, safe and welcoming
Home to over 200 different nationalities, Dubai is one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, committed to promoting inter-cultural exchange and understanding. In 2014, Dubai welcomed over 13.2 million tourists, a number that is expected to reach 20 million by 2020 as part of the emirate’s ambitious Dubai Tourism Vision 2020. Already one of the world’s most-visited urban destinations, with landmark architecture, world-class touristic offerings and a safe and welcoming environment, participants and visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai are guaranteed a truly remarkable experience.

Generation 2020
The UAE and the wider MEASA region has one of the world’s youngest and fastest growing populations with approximately 50 per cent under the age of 20. As our theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ suggests, Expo 2020 Dubai is a unique opportunity for participants to engage with the leaders and innovators of tomorrow - ‘Generation 2020’.
